Moshe Roas
Moshe Roas brings into his studio objects that have been structurally transformed by nature and time. These can be pieces of wood, rope, or metal weathered by the sea, the forest, or the desert. He combines them with metal, textile, and other craft materials he creates.
Roas’s works are a manifestation of a formula; a logic that underlies the balance of weights and shapes. Their forms inspire the viewer’s senses, generate impalpable sounds, and activate a precise yet invisible system that communicates with reality on encrypted frequencies.
Ultimately, at the core of his work lies a desire to create an encounter with beauty. To fill the hole of emptiness with the beauty found in the simple but skillful act of a person who sews a garment for himself with a thread and needle. Beauty in the unconsciousness of the child playing with a tree branch and sticking it in the ground and then putting a pine cone on it. His art presents a complex result of a chain of simple craft actions or a game with elements and discoveries that allow the viewer to sail for a moment in their imagination and fill the void with joy and emotion.
