You are invited to a screening event and discussion around the video works of Tal Alperstein, an artist in residence at Artport. Alperstein creates video works that serve as a platform for performative action and an exploration of the living body, time, and space. The cinematic space and time serve as the backdrop for these actions.
In the video works, the encounter between performance and cinema allows for exploring immediacy through both mediums. Within the cinematic language’s spectacle, within a world where time is meticulously organized, Alperstein grants time for the action, for real-time, for the everyday, and for the mundane.
During the event, two of Alperstein’s video works, “Corridor” (2022) and “Home Movie” (2021), will be showcased. Following the screening, there will be a discussion with literary scholars Adam Ratzon and Dr. Oded Mandel Levy, along with readings from two of Adam Ratzon’s books: “Must Fight in Itself” and “And I, What Do I Care About the Clock”.
Adam Ratzon (1981) holds a Ph.D. in Hebrew Literature, teaches and facilitates groups in education, literature, and writing.
Dr. Oded Mandel Levy is a literary researcher, writer, editor, and the founder of the “Tarshish” publishing house. He teaches at Bezalel and the Seminar HaKibbutzim.
Tal Alperstein (1985) holds a BFA from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design and an MA from the School of Film and Television, Tel Aviv University. Alperstein is a multi-disciplinary artist, creating video performances and collages.
